How many times do we practice our prayers
as if we barely have time to speak.
We quickly race in to tell God "all about it"
but don't take time in reverence to seek.
And when we do that, we have painfully missed
what it means to really know God through prayer.
For we should be changed into His very likeness
from the time that we spend while we're there.
If we silently ponder the purity of His holiness
we'll be far more aware of our sin.
And we'll no longer be satisfied letting it have its way
for we'll want God to have His way again.
If we visit in our minds His sheer, righteous glory
we'll be struck until tears start to well.
For that righteousness paid the price for our sin & disgrace
to redeem us from the clutches of hell.
If we drink in His mercy in our time of sweet prayer
we'll be humbled and daily re-aligned.
We'll remember who we are in the scheme of this life
because His mercy will fill our hearts & our minds.
If we say we love God, we must let Him love us
and that requires giving Him what is true;
To grant Him time to speak...and tell us precious secrets
of who He is and what He wants to do.
Prayer was never meant to be a drive-thru experience
with just getting what we want as our goal.
But rather, to sit and dine with the God of the Universe
and the Master of our very own souls.

To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this
grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles
the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all see
what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the
beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who
created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent
that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made
known by the church to the principalities and powers
in the heavenly places, according to the eternal
purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,
in whom we have boldness and access with confidence
through faith in Him. Ephesians 3:8-12 NKJV
