My name is Caleb, and I live in Colorado. I'm 19, and I recently graduated from a small Christian high school. This high school and various events surrounding it and me are very hopeful, and Glenn would definitely be interested!
First of all, this high school teaches history as it is meant to be taught, as "moral philosophy" (what history was called a hundred years ago). I liken this school to the little known school every single one of the Reformers (Martin Luther, John Calvin, etc.) graduated from, because it instills what it means to be a Christian and the Christian's role in society into its students. People from this school are going to be leaders in the years to come. God is planning something big with them.
As for my story. I graduated as the only senior in my class (so I get to claim all the titles, "Most likely to succeed," "Class President"...as well as "Least likely to succeed" "Bottom 10% in graduating class"!), but before I graduated, I defended a thesis paper I had been working on all year to a panel of experts. The thesis was on judicial activism, and I had a real judge asking me questions!
The message of hope here is first of all that not all judges are corrupt, and some know the dangers of liberal ideology (even if it's just a county judge. You've gotta start somewhere!). Also, I wanted to tell Glenn that there are people (like me) who have been given the right kind of education and are doing things to stem the tide of evil, and are ready to take over leadership, when things head south. I'm going to run for office at some point in my life, and I'm thinking about taking the long road to becoming a judge. God is planning some great things around the country with people like me! Even if I don't succeed, how many other people are there like me, whom God is raising up to take charge? They're everywhere, and you will start to see them in a few years. Some you can see now.
Another thing I wanted to mention is that about a year ago, a woman and her son in our church had a prophetic dream about the very thing Glenn talks about. But the message in the dream was "Have hope! I'm raising you up! This storm is the preparation for acts of glory done in My Name." Furthermore, this dream warned everyone to store food. My family has a large store of freeze dried goods in the garage (about a years' worth, incidentally). And, we have room for a lot more. Not only that, but since we live in the Rockies, electricity can sometimes cut out, so we have a backup generator. We're ready for anything, from blizzards to riots. God has us all in His hands.
Finally, four years ago I began writing a fiction book. The theme is "hope in the face of inevitable peril." (God has a theme going on here.) I am almost finished with it and I'm going to be meeting face to face with publishers at a writing conference in February. If I get published, then the timing couldn't be better!
God clearly has a plan in all of this. And the plan will succeed.
