God's time

We usually expect God to do things when we think they should be done. However, He is never late. His timing and schedule is always, always PERFECT.
"In His Time" - Maranatha Singers
Lyrics:
In His time, in His time, He makes all things beautiful, in His time
Lord, please show me every day,
as you're teaching me your way,
that you do just what you say, in your time
Lord, my life to you I bring
May each song I have to sing
Be to you a lovely thing
In your time
God bless, Merilyn

The Pledge is STILL Cool

Spirit Week at School:
In October the school where my child attends had spirit week. Each day is a different theme. The first was pajama day (he did not participate).
The second day was blast from the past. While all the other kids dressed up like hippies....
My son dressed up like Abraham Lincoln. He held the constitution in his hand
and pined to his lapel said: Hi my name is Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States from 1861-1865. I was a Lawyer, I worked for fair laws,
freed slaves, and helped unite the nation. I was a Republican from Illinois

To my amazement he won best blast from the past. More importantly, my son was very proud of his spirit day presentation. The lesson for him was, it is great to think outside the box and to look toward great leaders who did God's work while on earth. He is proud of our founding fathers and he knows who they are, and is working to be like them. The other kids learned about Abraham Lincoln that day because of my son's costume, his presentation and his willingness to be exceptional, instead of the norm.

Everyday that week we used the themes to promote the greatness of the United States of America. As parents or community leaders we can find little ways to promote American exceptionalism, goodness and God in our daily lives. God knows the dark side is always at work and never sleeps to fulfill it's agenda in our daily lives and in the lives of our children.

Keep up the good work,

Prayer and share from the Bible

I have just finished a Bible study course with an incarcerated man that I have done through Crossroad Bible Institute in Grand Rapids Michigan.  It was a bitter-sweet day for me.  I'm so glad he finished the study but sad that we had to say goodbye.  As I was considering what to write in my last letter, I came across a book I had called "When God Whispers Your Name" by Max Lucado and shared with him an excerpt from that book.  But I thought of you as I reread the letter and wanted to share it with you.
(Max is picturing himself interviewing Paul)
I set a few feet from a man on death row. Jewish by birth. Tentmaker by trade. Apostle by calling.  His days are marked. I'm curious about what bolsters this man as he nears execution.  So I Ask some questions.
Do you have family, Paul?              I have none
What about your own health?         My body is beaten and tired
What do you own?                        I  have my parchments. My pen. A cloak.
And your reputation?                     Well, it's not much. I'm a  heretic to some, a maverick to others
Do you have friends?                     I do, but even some of them have turnd away
Any awards?                                Not on earth
Then what do you  have, Paul?  No belongings. No family. Critizied by sme. Mocked by others. What do  you have, Paul? What do you have that matters?
I sit back quietly and watch. Paul rolls his hand into a fist.  He looks at it.  What is he holding?  What does he have?
He extends his hand so I can see.  As I lead forward, he opens his fingers.  I peer at  his palm.  It's empty.
I have my faith. It's all I have. But it's all I need.  I have kept the faith.
Paul leans back against the wall of his cell and smiles.  And I lean back against another and stare into the face of a man who has learned that there is more to life than meets the eye.
For that's what faith is.  Faith is trusing what the eye can't see.
Eyes see the prowling lion.   Faith sees Daniel's angel
Eyes see storms.  Faith sees Noah's rainbow
Eyes see giants.  Faith sees Canaan
Your eyes see your faults.  Your faith sees Your Savior
Your eyes see your guilt. Your faith sees His blood
Your eyes see your grave.  Your faith sees a city whose builder and maker is God
Your eyes look in the mirror and see a sinner, a failure, a promise-breaker.  But by faith you look in the mirror and see a robed prodigal bearing the ring of grace on your finger & the kiss of Your Father on your face.
Glenn:  My husband and I miraculously were able to attend 8/28.  Small miracles enabled us to be a part.      Many things in life diminish and memories fade away.  But the day of 8/28 continues to magnify in our minds and hearts. It was a very moving day for us and made a difference for both of us.
Our prayers are with you and your family
Sincerely
